Training, qualifications, and experience

My experience and qualifications are comprehensive, completing a three-year BSc in Counselling and Psychotherapy with the Sherwood Psychotherapy Training Institute in Nottingham (UK), which included my own attendance of personal therapy throughout the course. During this time, I provided regular counselling at a bereavement centre, offering therapy to people who were bereaved or to those living with a life limiting illness.

Since February 2023, I have worked in private practice here in the Netherlands, providing counselling services to adults who are experiencing a wide range of issues.

I have an ongoing commitment to continual professional development and have completed additional CPD training in the following:

  • Bereavement

  • Relational trauma

  • Attachment

Alongside my counselling experience, I have worked within the health and social care sector for the last 15 years, including working for the NHS and more recently as a Senior Manager for an older people’s charity based in the UK.

Areas in which I have experience in and can support you with, but not limited to the following:

  • Bereavement and loss

  • Anxiety

  • Depression

  • Stress

  • Relationship issues

  • Work related issues

  • General discontent/ unhappiness

  • Childhood abuse

  • Fertility issues

  • Pregnancy/ birth/ postnatal depression

  • Illness and disability

  • Expat issues

My approach

As a Humanistic and Integrative therapist, I understand that not all counselling approaches will suit everyone, therefore I aim to work alongside you, to find a way of us working together that is right for you. I draw upon concepts from Person-centred therapy, Psychodynamic, Transactional Analysis and Gestalt to tailor an individual approach to suit you, which considers your physical, mental, and emotional needs. I believe that given a healthy environment we all have the capacity for self-growth and have the autonomy to be able to determine the life we want to live, and I believe that pursuing counselling can be the first steps to start living a more fulfilling life.
